Pressure Washing FAQ

Will pressure washing damage my paving or pointing?

When done correctly, no — pressure washing will not damage your paving or pointing.

We use the right combination of pressure, nozzles and cleaning techniques to safely remove dirt, moss and algae without harming the surface. However, older or already-loose pointing can sometimes break away during cleaning — this happens because it was weakened before the job, not because of the cleaning itself.

After pressure washing, we can also re-sand block paving joints or advise on any areas that may need repointing.

Are you insured?

When done correctly, no — pressure washing will not damage your paving or pointing.

Yes — we are fully insured for all the work we carry out. This includes public liability insurance, so you have complete peace of mind while we work on your property.

If you ever need to see our insurance details, we’re happy to provide them on request.

Do I need to be at home?

In most cases, no – you don’t need to be at home as long as we have clear access to the areas being cleaned.

You can leave gates unlocked or arrange access in advance, and we’ll carry out the work professionally and safely.

If you prefer to be home, that’s absolutely fine too.

For gutter cleaning, we can also provide before and after photos so you can see the results even if you’re not there.

How often should gutters be cleaned or pressure washing be done?

Gutters:
We recommend cleaning gutters at least once a year. If your property is near trees, a twice-yearly clean (spring and autumn) helps prevent blockages, leaks and damp issues.

Pressure Washing (Driveways, Patios, Decking):
Most outdoor surfaces benefit from a clean once every 12–18 months.

This keeps algae, moss and grime under control and helps protect the surface from long-term damage.

Some customers choose a yearly clean to keep everything looking fresh all year round.

Can you work in the winter?

Yes — we work all year round, including winter.

Most exterior pressure wash cleaning can be carried out safely in colder months as long as temperatures are above freezing. Winter is actually one of the best times for:

• Gutter cleaning (heavy rain, leaves and debris build up)
• Driveway & patio cleaning (removing slippery algae)

If the weather is too icy or unsafe, we’ll simply reschedule at no extra cost, but most pressure washing winter jobs go ahead without any issues.

Do you provide free quotes?

Yes, indeed we provide free quotes for pressure washing driveway and patio cleaning, as well as gutter, decking and sandstone cleaning, both domestic and commercial. Get in touch with our Edinburgh team.
